Check This Out!

Hi everyone! It's a new week and I've got something new for you all to check out! Now I'm not talking about this book, so don't turn away if you don't have a daughter. (If you do though, it's a great book). No, what I want you to check out is a facebook page called Family Talk with Dr. James Dobson. I wish I could put into words how much I enjoy anything involved with Dr. James Dobson. I so just want to sell you on it because I wish everyone knew of him. I think it would be great if everywhere I went people were talking of the latest Family Talk discussion or the latest Dr. Dobson book. They also have a website which you can link to from their page. Through all of these resources, there is just a wealth of knowledge when it comes to relationships, marriage, family, parenting, faith, and Christian values. It is something every single person can benefit from especially in the world we live in today.

I became a Dr. Dobson fan last summer while reading the book pictured here. Bringing Up Girls opened my eyes to my role as a parent of a little girl. It did the same for my husband who read it after hearing me talk about certain points in the book. Chad couldn't put it down in fact and has often remarked on certain pieces of advice he will remember forever. Dr. Dobson has also written Bringing Up Boys which I plan on reading eventually whether our next child is a boy or not.

Anyways, on the Family Talk with Dr. James Dobson facebook book page today they are giving away an ebook of a parenting book that I want! I just need 5 friends to "like" his page for me. Pretty please check it out! They are often giving away books and when they hit 50,000 "likes", they are giving away an ipad 2! I'd also take one of those, but maybe you'll win that. Well, hope you check it out! I already know you will like what you find! :)

Time Keeps on Ticking....

Hello! After a long weekend, I wanted to jump right back into my blog. I wanted to tell you all what a completely amazing time I had visiting our family in Indiana. I wanted to jump back into the swing of things around here refreshed after a break from the daily routine. During Blake's nap today, I wanted to do a million and one things. Well, I did one thing. Napped myself. Waaa-waaa. Man, have I got a case of first trimester tiredness! I actually did great over the weekend. Thought maybe I kicked the nap habit, but no. I fell asleep last night at 9p.m. Got up today at 5:30 ready to jump on my opportunities to do stuff while Blake was still sleeping. I thought I could power through her nap as well. Then, I thought instead of a power-through, I'd go for just a 20 minute power-nap. As I was laying there just now over an hour later, I got a text from Chad. He asked if Blake was sleeping still. I told him she was, and that I just couldn't wake up myself. Next text..."Go to sleep. Whatever you need to do can wait. Just keep cooking that bun." I love my husband! My nap along with that message just refreshed my whole day...until bedtime.:)

Baby on the Way!

Yay! So the news is out! We're having a baby! I almost can't believe it myself, but then those first trimester symptoms remind me that it is indeed true! Yep, I have been feeling a little tired and occasionally queasy. I am thankful for this though because I know it could be way worse. I think it will really hit home with me when I start to break out the maternity clothes and prep a nursery. I know pregnancy can be a long haul, but right now I am thinking "thank goodness" because I feel like I have a million things I want to do around here before we welcome home baby#2. I'm sure around 7, 8, or 9 months though I will be not as excited to have time left. I'll be uncomfortable and ready to go. Ahhh, the joys of pregnancy!:) We are only 8 weeks today. Lots to do until our due date, but a good amount of time to get it done. Well, this pregnant lady is going to go eat some more crackers while I finish yesterday's laundry. Yep, still a procrastinator when preggo! I'm sure many more posts will be pregnancy related so bear with me if I get moody from time to time. Haha! Oh, and we are taking a long weekend, so Happy's Mother's Day in advance everyone!

I'll Get There Eventually

Well, I'm having a bit of writer's bock. Not that I am even a "writer" necessarily, but you know what I mean. My mind is on that ever growing to-do list again. We are getting ready to go see family here fairly shortly and the whole packing process is beginning. I always look forward to trips to see family or even just day trips here and there. However, while I anxiously await them, I delay packing. I'd like to say it is because now we have a little one to travel with, but I have always been this way. I am usually up way too late the night before, and then tired the day traveling occurs. Why do I do this to myself? Sometimes I think I just work better under a crunch time. Other times I think it's the challenge of can I get it done in less time rather than just drag it out until it is time to go. I know I don't want to be ready a day in advance. I just don't know why. Having a small child does require extra thought into it all. It takes quite a bit to get our family's "show on the road". While I delay in action though, my wheels spin as to what I need to get done. Little mental checklists. Somehow or another I then end up packed and surprisingly organized when we head out the door.

Well, maybe just maybe, I can prepare enough for an early bedtime the night before we leave. Going to go listen to some good music and get this mountain of laundry tackled. That is step 1. The other day I heard my husband say "I like to make hay while the sun shines" in reference to putting things off or getting things done. This made me laugh out loud because I had never heard this expression before and suddenly he sounded like Farmer Chad to me. As you can tell, he is not as big of a procrastinator. Well, the sun is shining, so I'm off to make my hay....or do my laundry. Haha! Wish me luck. I'm going to need it! Hope you all are having a productive day too!

On a Positive Note

Isn't it strange how we as humans can feel so differently all as a result of our attitudes and our outlook on life? One day everything is going great. The next day we may just feel blah for no apparent reason, or for what we feel is very good reason. We may even go in spurts. When something good happens, everything seems to be going smoothly. Then when it rains, it pours. Well, something I stumbled upon a while ago is Positively Positive, a Facebook page that I just love. It's daily posts are inspiring and often help put things in perspective. It's funny too how they can sometime just fit with my day. It may be something I just needed to read in a certain moment or give thought to. I know sometimes people tend to think the "think positive people" can just be annoying at times. None of us are always positive that is for sure, but those that reach for it more often than not, are onto something good. Positively Positive has got everything from quotes to stories of inspiration. Check it out if it sounds like something you might like. Here are a few posts lately that I have enjoyed.....

When you're in a hole, stop digging. - Michael Josephson

I long, as does every human being, to be at home wherever I find myself. - Maya Angelou

Try not to take things personally, what people often say is a reflection of them and not you. -Unknown

With everything that has happened to you, you can either feel sorry for yourself or treat what has happened as a gift. Everything is either an opportunity to grow or an obstacle to keep you from growing. You get to choose. - Dr. Wayne Dyer

Just be yourself; you are wonderful. - from a Fortune Cookie

The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up. - Mark Twain

A huge lesson for me was that if I was gonna be successful, I had to be successful as myself - I couldn't be successful doing what other people were doing. I had to do what I believed in and what felt real to me and felt true to me, because the worst thing to be is successful as someone else. - Jay-Z

If you can change your mind, you can change your life. - William James

When it seems that everything you do is wrong and everyone is against you--it is the most opportune time to wear your "I-don't-give-a-damn" tutu and glide gleefully on the dance floor of "this is me and my life". - Dodinsky's Garden of Thoughts

Hope you liked some of these, and maybe check out Positively Positive! Have a great weekend everyone!:)

Lil Fun for Tuesday

So in thinking of something I could share on my blog today, I thought why not do something fun like have a sale?! Some of you may already know this, but in case you didn't, I also sell Mary Kay skin care and cosmetics. It's something I decided to start doing a couple of years ago, and it's a nice little part-time gig on the side of being a stay at home mom. I truthfully realized at age 30 that I should really start taking better care of my skin. These products are packed with good vitamins and many have SPF as well. Anyways, I love using Mary Kay which makes it really fun to also sell it. Well, I am about to place my next order and thought I'd give my "Daily Cup of T" readers (that's fun to say) an offer if you need anything yourselves. So today through this Friday the 29th, I am offering $10 off for every $50 spent, plus free shipping. If you order online, don't worry, your sale price will be reflected before your transaction is processed. So if you'd like to check out my website, please go to www.marykay.com/tasha.albold. Also, if you happen to have an iPhone, Mary Kay has a free app where you can always check out our latest catalog right on your phone. Isn't technology so cool?:)

Happy shopping if you take advantage, either for yourself or for upcoming Mother's Day! Have a great afternoon everyone!

Birthdays to Bunnies

Well, we had a wonderful Easter weekend and I hope you all did too! We were fortunate enough to spend it with some great friends of ours. Being that we live away from all of our family, this is especially nice to have friends who have become our family away from family. It feels more like our home away from home in a sense, and it is really great to celebrate such occasions with others. Saturday we had an Easter egg hunt at our friends' home and a delicious tri-tip dinner. Sunday was church, brunch out with the same great friends, and more egg hunting back at home. It was a wonderful couple of days. I find it still hard to believe that at this time last year Blake was not even walking yet. Now we are either watching her run or chasing her down. Yes, from last weekend's birthday celebration to this weekend's Easter celebration, we have been really enjoying the month of April. How is it almost May already though? Our calendar is filling up with some fun May events too, so I guess we'll just happily hop right along!
